Het echte afpoederen – zonder Paganini-effect

“Tabee,” zei ik vorige week tegen Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte terwijl ik hem met een flinke zwaai de prullenbak in zwieperde. Wat een teleurstelling. Die zien we nooit meer terug. Maar goed, samen met de opluchting die daarbij kwam kijken begon tevens de zoektocht naar een waardige vervanger. Of wat zeg ik? Waardige vervanger? Laat ik nu toch voor eens en voor altijd een poeder vinden die ook daadwerkelijk iets toe te voegen heeft. Ik zocht stad en land af, grabbelde als een idioot door mijn bak met cosmetica back-ups, las tig blogs en eindigde – hoe verrassend – toch weer bij de MAC counter om de hoek en ging wederom niet met lege handen naar huis. Dit moet toch eens stoppen.
De eerste optie in de vorm van een bakje met losse poeder flikkerde tijdens het testen al op de grond. Nu snap ik eindelijk wat Pauline Oostenrijk bedoelde. De tweede optie in de vorm van gekleurde poeders vielen allemaal net iets te oranje uit en zouden ook in de juiste kleur eenmaal aangebracht bovendien zichtbaar zijn op het gezicht. En dat wil ik niet, want mijn poeder mag absoluut niet het effect van Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Foundation verdoezelen. Kijk, dat doen ze dan wel weer goed. Enigszins teleurgesteld voelde ik de noodzaak om af te druipen en eenzaam en poederloos door het leven te gaan, totdat mijn vaste MAC-vriendin, zoals altijd compleet behangen met twintig soorten poederkwasten om de heupen en tevens zelf voorzien van een poedertje bestaande uit een laagje of twintig op het gezicht, mij met een felpaarse lipstick-lach te hulp schiet. Ze raadde me een transparante poeder aan, die in de verpakking wit oogt.
Vrijwel direct schiet het schrikbeeld van de Italiaanse componist Nicolò Paganini mij in het hoofd, waarvan veel mensen geloofden dat hij een zogenaamde ‘duivelsviolist’ was met zijn extreem lange vingers waarmee hij ’s nachts op kerkhoven voor de doden speelde en tijdens concerten met witte poeder op het gezicht ten tonele verscheen. Begrijp me niet verkeerd, ik hou van Paganini en heb me zelfs eens aan een van zijn 24 Capriccio’s voor viool gewaagd, op saxofoon, maar om net als hem mijn gezicht wit te schminken gaat me te ver. Ik wil gewoon mijn gezicht afpoederen zonder er als een vers gebakken cake uit te zien! “Geloof me,” zei het MAC-meisje geruststellend terwijl ze me het doosje in mijn handen schoof, mijn angstverhaal over Paganini negerend. En ja hoor, MAC Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder Pressed doet het. Het is mijn foundation die de show steelt, maar de poeder die ervoor zorgt dat dit de hele dag zo blijft. En zelfs op luie dagen waarop ik een slechte beauty blogger ben, laat ik ‘m zijn werk doen. De poeder is inderdaad wit in de verpakking, maar transparant op je huid. Geen Paganini-effect dus. Hoewel, ik hoop wel dat -ie me een beetje helpt tijdens het spelen van die verdomde Capriccio.
Lastig he, een goed poeder vinden. Ik gebruik nu een transparante van Catrice maar ik vind dat je die toch wel ziet zitten. Misschien ook maar even bij Mac kijken 🙂
Oh ik snap precies wat je bedoelt! Het is altijd zo’n zoektocht, wat tof zo’n transparante poeder, ik ben nu echt heel erg benieuwd. Die zal ik ook een keertje gaan proberen. 🙂

Deze klinkt wel heel goed zeg! Fijn ook dat je hier geen witte waas mee krijgt op je gezicht, bij sommige “transparante” poeders heb ik daar wel last van.
Ik zelf gebruik der voorlopig geen omdat ik nog niet echt de juiste heb gevonden.
Ben echt benieuwd naar die Mac translucent, haha ik kan je angst voorstellen in eerste instantie zo een witte poeder haha Dracula 😉 Komt er een review met foto’s? Yes please?

Haha, wat heb je dit stukje leuk beschreven. Ik snap precies wat je bedoelt met je gedachtengang over witte poeder. Ik dacht dan ook altijd aan zo’n spook/geestachtig wit persoon. Maar goed dat dit toch niet op deze manier werkt en dat je nu toch een geweldige poeder hebt gevonden! 🙂

You mention that the Tacx Bushido can use the Garmin Speed/Cadence sensor. It doesn’t pick up the cadence from my SRM power meter and the computed cadence it creates is pretty far off. So are you saying that if I add the Garmin GC-10 cadence sensor to the bike, the Bushido should pick that up? Thanks.I seem to remember you saying you were using a beta firmware upgrade for the Bushido brake to incorporate alternate power meters. Maybe that is necessary to use third party cadence sensors as well.

At my daughter`s first well baby visit everything went well… All my concerns were addressed.. She had even gained like 5 ozs… This was at a week old, her pediatrician was like there’s nothing like mommy`s milk to fatten em` up, not that she needed much help, her birth weight was 7lbs12ozs!! My feeling is that the enabling technology of AJAX is the ‘J’, though I’ll grant that XMLHttpRequest and friends are usually an improvement over monkeying with an IFRAME. I'm so glad you found grits that you like! My grandparents are from NC and I've been eating good grits since I was a baby. It's not common to find grits in restaurants in the mid-Atlantic. David, I know what you mean. I *try* to print when I’m writing margin notes for that reason. I can’t say I can always make sense of every note added afterwards, but that’s not usually because of the handwriting but that some notes become cryptic with time! (Not enough background to recreate what I was thinking about at the time; it’s a reason I find it best to transcribe them to longer form reasonably promptly if they matter.)Loose thought: does anyone here you the ‘notes’ feature you can annotate PDFs with as a way of taking notes on research papers? (I don’t.)

Great Article.As a former film school student I was subject to dozens of movies, however critically acclaimed they may have been, that would put the most ardent movie lover to sleep. Silent, Black and White, Foreign w/ subtitles. I made it through 8 1/2 (though I like it now), La Dolce Vita, The Grand Illusion, Battleship Potemkin, but the one movie that got me was F. W. Murnau’s “The Last Laugh”.I just could not stay awake. Nosferatu was bad ass though.

I am glad you had a great time! I am just getting to this now as we just finished a trip through Alaska, alas, as it was a huge family thing that invovled a cruise, I can’t say that we were able to access a lot of fresh foods. I would like to say though that rhubarbs and potatoes seemed to be the thing to grow there too. And as for Cleveland, that is my hometown (sort of, I grew up about a half hour west of the city) and finishing our vacation included a visit there before and after Alaska.
believe it or not, i have not made brownie before. hahaha. my sister came by last weekend & made it for me. i love to eat it esp with bits of nuts n dried fruits in it. i'm so encourage to make some on my own now. pistachio in brownie is yummy.

Also hier ist das Kind nach einem Kindergartentag von 6-8 Stunden mit Mittgasschlaf (1h) am Abend sehr müde :-). Ich mache mir eher Sorgen wie das in der Schule wird, von früh bis Nachmittag immer was los und keine Mittagsruhe. Das kann auch ein Problem sein :-).

I’ve been a personal trainer for 13 years and I’ve tried so many products out there. I believe this one is great. Only been on it for 4 weeks of a 12 week cycle it’s been great thus far. I sleep better, wake better it’s just been great. As for muscle improvements I’ve gained some muscle mass and leaned out rather nicely thus far. I’d recommend this product to anyone looking to help even things out within their own body. Also this was recommended to me for anti-aging I think it’s great.
